About This Training
Many workers in Canada use or are exposed to controlled products at work everyday. Some common controlled products may include: cleaning products, degreasers, fire extinguishers, gasoline and more.
The Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) is a hazard communication system which consists of:
- Specific labeling of hazardous products
- Safety Data Sheets which provide details about the products
- Training of workers so they know how to work safety with these products
A training certificate is issued and emailed to the Training Administrator upon completion.
This course is available in English or in French, when a trainee logs into the training they can choose their preferred language.
GHS has been implemented in WHMIS 2015!
Health Canada (Federal Government) has implemented changes to the WHMIS system by incorporating the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) and renaming the system WHMIS 2015. Due to these changes, WHMIS is in a period of transition between two hazard communication regimes – WHMIS 1988 and WHMIS 2015. As a result, YOW Canada’s online WHMIS 2015 course will cover both WHMIS 1988 and WHMIS 2015 until the full phase-in period is finished.
