Apprenticeship is an on-the-job training program for people who want to work in a skilled trade or occupation and includes learning new skills from skilled journeypersons. Apprenticeship training provides access to well-paying jobs that demand a high level of skill, judgement and creativity. Apprentices are paid while gaining work experience, and their wages increase with their level of skill. Our Pre-Apprenticeship Training Program’s helps potential entrants to the apprenticeship system develop their job skills and trade readiness so that they will be prepared to find work as apprentices. Programs are 52 weeks in duration and may include the Level 1 apprenticeship in-school training or relevant apprenticeship training, and relevant safety training.
Participants will start with a 52 week pre-apprenticeship program; during this time they will be registered as a 1st year journeyman and placed with a licensed trades company for the duration of the apprenticeship.
