For many of you this may be your first introduction to the citation and essay format developed by the American Psychological Association, informally known as “APA”.

APA format standards are a widely-adopted framework for defining almost everything about a research paper or publication article from page layout through to references and appendices. It provides reviewers, readers, and researchers alike with a common framework for identifying the important elements of any research paper without forcing them to decipher any individual stylings.

While prevalent in University settings, it is also gaining popularity in secondary and continuing education.
