COURSE OVERVIEW

Promote and maintain a safe and comfortable environment for clients, their families, self and others including the implementation of infection prevention and control measures and emergency first aid procedures that are in keeping with the plan of care/service plan*, employer policies and procedures, and all applicable legislation.

Part 1: Adhere to occupational, health and safety legislation and employer policies and procedures.

Part 2: Identify, reduce and report safety risks.

Part 3: Identify hazards to avoid fires, accidents, falls etc.

Part 4: Know the principles of infection transmission/control, routine practices, PPE.

Part 5: Follow employer’s emergency protocols and processes.

Part 6: Apply emergency first aid and CPR according to employer policies.

Part 7: Complete incidents reports according to employer policy and legislated requirements.
