COURSE OVERVIEW
This course will allow students to acquire the practical knowledge and skills necessary to conduct a mental health assessment. They will learn how to approach client assessments for different age groups. Explore relevant mental health legislation and diagnostic reference sources in order to provide a framework for the assessment process.

Skill Competencies: Demonstrate working with older adults to assist them in setting goals that promote optimal functioning, well-being and quality of life. Employ strategies to plan, implement and evaluate services and programs in response to identified needs and goals of older adults. Demonstrate functioning effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and provision of relevant services and programs for older adults. Apply the strategies that advocate for change and promote social and economic justice.
